Minister Piyush Goyal cut the GI application fee from ₹5,000 to ₹1,000 to help tribal artisans.
Announced at the Tribal Business Conclave, part of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh for Birsa Munda's 150th birth anniversary.
GIs are governed by the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration & Protection) Act, 1999.
