1. Supreme Court: Women Are India’s Largest Minority

The Supreme Court called women the largest minority, citing their low presence in Parliament and State legislatures.
The remark came during a plea on delay in implementing the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.

Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh 2025 is a year-long national celebration of tribal heritage and freedom fighters.

The nodal ministry is the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

3. RBI Draft ECL Norms: Banks Seek Lower Stage-II Floor

Banks planned to ask RBI to lower the proposed minimum 5% provision for Stage-II loans under the draft ECL framework.
Stage-II provisioning is currently 0.4% for SMA-1 and SMA-2 loans.
The ECL regime, aligned with IFRS 9, would start on April 1, 2027 and replace the incurred-loss model.
The transition period is four years, till FY31.

7. RBI Current Account Rules: Banks Split Over Draft

RBI's draft allows only two banks, each with at least 10% of a borrower's total exposure, to hold current accounts for borrowers owing ₹10 crore or more.
The draft was released for stakeholder comments in October 2025 and the effective date is not yet fixed.
Private banks fear losing low-cost current account deposits; public sector banks, usually lead lenders, stand to gain.
Collection accounts remain allowed if funds reach the main current account within two working days.

8. NUCFDC Seeks SRO Status for Urban Cooperative Banks

NUCFDC planned to seek SRO status from RBI within two months, as paid-up capital neared the ₹300 crore criterion.
NUCFDC is a mid-layer NBFC licensed in February 2024; NCDC holds 20% and participating UCBs 80%.
440 of 1,462 UCBs have joined, covering 70% of the sector's ₹5.5 trillion deposits.
Its digital platforms are Sahakar DigiPay (50 paisa per transaction) and Sahakar DigiLoan.
