1. Rakhigarhi Skeletons Handed to AnSI for Multidisciplinary Study
- ASI transferred human skeletal remains from Rakhigarhi, Haryana, to the Anthropological Survey of India (AnSI) under a new MoU announced on 22 June 2026.
- The 2025-26 excavation found eight burials at Mound No. 7; three complete skeletons plus fragments went to AnSI's Kolkata laboratory.
- Rakhigarhi spans about 550 hectares in Hisar district and is the largest known Indus-Saraswati (Harappan) settlement.
- Planned studies include ancient DNA, stable isotopes, osteology, palaeopathology and environmental reconstruction.
