1. Bihar Electoral Roll Special Intensive Revision 2025

The ECI ordered a Special Intensive Revision of Bihar's electoral rolls before the October 2025 Assembly polls.
Bihar's previous intensive revision was in 2003; the new qualifying date is 01.07.2025.
Article 324 gives the ECI control of elections; Article 326 sets voter eligibility.

2. Bihar SIR: EC Eases Proof Rules Using 2003 Electoral Roll

Bihar's voter lists were undergoing a special intensive revision (SIR) run by the Election Commission.
The EC put the 2003 electoral roll, listing 4.96 crore electors, in the public domain.
Anyone born after 1987 is spared from giving parents' birth proof if the parents feature on the 2003 roll.

4. Hul Diwas: Santhal Rebellion marks 170th anniversary

The Santhal Hul (rebellion) began on 30 June 1855 in the Damin-i-Koh area of the Rajmahal hills.
Jharkhand observes Hul Diwas every year; 2025 marked the 170th anniversary of the uprising.
Sidhu and Kanhu were the main leaders, joined by Chand-Bhairav and Phulo-Jhano.
The revolt led to the Santhal Parganas Tenancy Act (1876) and later the Chota Nagpur Tenancy Act (1908).

5. PhonePe HDFC Bank Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card Launched

PhonePe entered the co-branded card segment with HDFC Bank in July 2025.
The card runs on the RuPay network and is meant for UPI-linked credit spending.
It comes in two variants, UNO and Ultimo.
PhonePe was founded in August 2016 and had over 61 crore users by April 2025.

India is the world's second-largest fertiliser consumer yet imports about 30% of its needs.

The Secretariat is in Geneva; Ivonne Higuero has been Secretary-General since 2018.

14. INS Udaygiri, second Project 17A frigate, delivered to Navy

INS Udaygiri was handed over to the Indian Navy on 1 July 2025.
It is the second of seven Project 17A multi-mission stealth frigates.
Built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai, to a design by the Warship Design Bureau.
Delivery came about 37 months after launch, using integrated construction.
Five more Project 17A ships are under construction and due progressively by the end of 2026.
