1. NITI Aayog Reconstituted: Ashok Kumar Lahiri Named Vice Chairperson

  • The government reconstituted NITI Aayog, appointing Ashok Kumar Lahiri, a former Chief Economic Advisor, as Vice Chairperson with Cabinet Minister rank.
  • NITI Aayog was set up on January 1, 2015 by Cabinet Resolution and is neither constitutional nor statutory.
  • It replaced the 65-year-old Planning Commission and follows a bottom-up approach.
  • The Prime Minister chairs it; the Governing Council has CMs of States and UTs with legislatures plus LGs of other UTs.

3. NMBA 2.0 App for Drug-Free India: Features and NAPDDR Link

  • The NMBA 2.0 App is an upgraded digital platform under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR).
  • It supports a three-part approach to demand reduction: awareness, treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Features include an e-Pledge, IEC material and a locator for the nearest de-addiction centre.
  • Grant-in-Aid institutions get role-based access and must report in real time to receive Anudan.

7. RBI Revised NPA Master Directions: Borrower-Wise Rule

  • RBI's revised NPA Master Directions take effect from 1 April 2027, aligning practice with Basel-III standards.
  • Classification becomes borrower-wise: default on one loan makes all that borrower's facilities NPAs.
  • An upgrade to Standard needs full repayment of arrears on all facilities; banks must use automated NPA identification.
  • The 90-day overdue rule for NPA status is unchanged.

10. Index of Service Production: NSO’s New Services Tracker

  • NSO has put forward an Index of Service Production (ISP), using 2024-25 as its base year.
  • ISP will track services output monthly; services contribute over 50% of India's GVA.

  • It aims to cover about 70% of services GVA, leaving out public administration and defence.
