1. Purple Fest 2025: ISLRTC and Amity Event for Divyangjan Inclusion

  • Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) and Amity University, Noida organised Purple Fest 2025.
  • The national festival promotes inclusion, awareness and accessibility for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).
  • Activities included an art and craft exhibition, 22 entrepreneurship stalls and cultural and sports events.
  • Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) sessions focused on Indian Sign Language.

2. Mizoram’s First Railway Line: Bairabi-Sairang Inaugurated

  • The 51.38 km Bairabi-Sairang broad-gauge line, Mizoram's first railway, was inaugurated by PM Modi on 13 September 2025.
  • The project cost about Rs 8,070 crore; it was sanctioned in 2008-09 and construction began in 2015.
  • It has 45 tunnels, 55 major bridges and 87 minor bridges, with about 54% of the route on tunnels and bridges.
  • Three trains were launched: Sairang-Delhi Rajdhani, Sairang-Guwahati and Sairang-Kolkata Express.
  • Sairang is about 20 km from Aizawl, the state capital.

9. Scarborough Shoal: China’s Nature Reserve Draws Philippine Protest

  • China's State Council approved the Huangyan Island National Nature Reserve at Scarborough Shoal on 10 September 2025.
  • The Philippines strongly opposed the move, saying Filipino fishermen could lose access to traditional grounds.
  • Scarborough Shoal is an atoll about 220 km east of Luzon, claimed by China, the Philippines and Taiwan.
  • A 12 July 2016 tribunal ruling called it a rock and did not decide sovereignty.
