3. SEBI Mutual Fund Cost Reset: BER Replaces TER From April 2026

  • SEBI revised mutual fund costs for the ₹80 trillion industry, effective 1 April 2026, introducing the Base Expense Ratio (BER).
  • BER covers only the AMC fee for managing money; TER becomes BER plus brokerage, regulatory levies and statutory taxes.
  • Cash market brokerage falls to 6 bps from 12 bps and derivatives brokerage to 2 bps from 5 bps.
  • Stockbroker rules were rewritten in 11 chapters, with exchanges as first-line regulators.

11. PM Modi conferred Oman’s highest civilian honour, Order of Oman

  • Oman conferred the First Class of the Order of Oman on PM Narendra Modi during his official visit.
  • Reports describe the Order of Oman as the Sultanate's top honour, instituted in 1970 by Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
  • The honour came as India and Oman concluded the long-pending CEPA.
