On Vijay Diwas 2025 President Droupadi Murmu opened ‘Param Vir Dirgha’ in Rashtrapati Bhavan, displaying portraits of all 21 PVC recipients.
Key facts
- It takes the place of portraits of former British Aide-de-Camps, a step against colonial-era symbols.
- The Param Vir Chakra is India’s top military gallantry award, for wartime bravery and supreme sacrifice, instituted 26 January 1950.
- Posthumous awards are allowed and most have been posthumous.
- Honorarium: ₹3,000 monthly, plus ₹3,000 per bar.
