1. CCEA Clears ₹40,175 Crore Hydro Projects in Arunachal

Two Arunachal Pradesh hydropower projects costing ₹40,175.33 crore got the CCEA's nod under PM Narendra Modi.
Annual output is put at 4,852.95 MU for the 1,200 MW Kalai-II and 6,870 MU for the 1,720 MW Kamala plant.
Both come with large infrastructure works and a flood-moderation role.
The aim is cleaner power and better energy security across the Northeast.

2. Col. Sonam Wangchuk, Mahavir Chakra Awardee, Passes Away

Colonel Sonam Wangchuk died on 10 April 2026 at the age of 61.
He won the Maha Vir Chakra for leading operations at Chorbat La in the Batalik sector in May 1999.
The Maha Vir Chakra is India's second-highest gallantry award.
He was widely known as the 'Lion of Ladakh'.

Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana was launched in 2015; MUDRA refinances lenders rather than lending directly to borrowers.
Loan slabs: Shishu up to ₹50,000, Kishore to ₹5 lakh, Tarun to ₹10 lakh, Tarun Plus ₹10-20 lakh.
NCGTC provides credit guarantee, which lets banks lend without collateral.

Jayant Chaudhary launched the Skills Outcomes Fund (SOF) to improve youth employment.

5. RBI Golden Hour Proposal: 1-Hour Delay on Large Digital Transfers

RBI's discussion paper of April 9, 2026 proposed a one-hour delay in crediting digital transfers above ₹10,000.
The payer is debited at once and can cancel within the hour if fraud is suspected.
Mainly aimed at person-to-person transfers; merchant payments such as shop QR codes are generally excluded.
Seniors (70+) and persons with disabilities: a trusted person may approve transfers above ₹50,000.

6. Inward remittances: RBI orders hourly Nostro checks, same-day credit

RBI's 9 April 2026 circular targets delays at the beneficiary leg of cross-border payments.
Banks must tell customers at once on receiving a foreign payment message, or at the next business day's start if after hours.
Nostro accounts must be reconciled near real-time or at gaps of at most one hour.
Payments received in forex market hours must be credited the same business day.

Andhra Pradesh is launching India's first Quantum Reference Facility (QRF), to be dedicated on April 14, 2026.
It is a milestone for the National Quantum Mission and the Amaravati Quantum Valley programme.
The facility sits at SRM University-AP and provides two testing beds that act as a gold standard.
It was developed with the Amaravati Quantum Research Facility (AQRF) and Qubit Force.

9. National Quantum Mission: 1,000 km Secure Quantum Link

The National Quantum Mission demonstrated secure quantum communication over 1,000 km, halfway to a 2,000-km pan-India network.
NQM works through four Thematic Hubs: computing, communication, sensing and materials.
The computing hub aims for a 1,000-qubit computer by 2031.
Quantum Key Distribution relies on physics, notably the no-cloning theorem, to expose eavesdroppers.

Women's credit portfolio grew 4.8 times during 2017-2025 to ₹76 lakh crore, a 26% share of system credit.
Credit penetration nearly doubled to 36%; women's default rates are 0.7x lower than the general market.
19% of women graduated from group micro-loans to individual loans; Bihar (59%) and UP (42%) grew fastest.
About 29 crore credit-eligible women remain unserved.
