PMIS App: Prime Minister Internship Scheme Goes Mobile
Why in the news
A mobile app for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) is set to be launched by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, along with the first physical facilitation centre.
Key facts
- App developer: Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG), which also manages the current internship portal.
- First facilitation centre: Kolkata, created by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
- CII will also set up facilitation desks at 47 Model Career Centres nationwide.
About PMIS
- Announced in Budget 2024-25.
- Goal: internships for one crore youth in the top 500 companies within five years.
- MCA started it as a pilot on 3 October 2024, aiming at 1,25,000 internships in FY 2024-25.

Significance of the app
