India-Netherlands Maritime Heritage MoU for NMHC Lothal
Why in the news
The two countries agreed to cooperate on maritime heritage, mainly to help build NMHC near Lothal in Gujarat.
Objectives of the MoU
- Joint work on museum design, curation and conservation.
- Exchange of expertise.
- Shared research, exhibitions and education.
- Better visitor experience and global reach for NMHC.
About NMHC, Lothal
- Envisioned as India’s largest maritime heritage complex.
- Lothal was an Indus Valley Civilization port.
- It will show India’s 4,500-year maritime story: shipbuilding, navigation, ports, overseas trade.
