The eShram portal came up again as it grows from a registration site into a wider service platform for unorganised workers.
Key facts
- Launched: 26 August 2021 by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
- Database: National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW), seeded with Aadhaar.
- ID: Universal Account Number (UAN), allotted on self-declaration.
- Uses: direct benefit transfers, scheme access and a base for welfare delivery and labour market insight.
- 21 October 2024: relaunched as a one-stop solution, in line with the Budget 2024-25 vision.
- Workers can check scheme eligibility, track benefits received and get consolidated services.
