1. PM Surya Ghar: Tier-II and III Cities Lead Rooftop Solar

Over 36.3 lakh rooftop systems now exist under PM Surya Ghar, benefiting 44 lakh-plus households.
Launched February 2024 with ₹75,021 crore outlay; target is 1 crore households.
Utility-Led Aggregation aims at 30 lakh low-income households.

2. GeM and TReDS Link-Up: Faster Invoice Finance for MSMEs

The government plans to interlink GeM with TReDS so MSMEs go from procurement to invoice to financing without changing platforms.
A 30 June 2026 notification made it mandatory for CPSEs to settle MSME invoices via RBI-regulated TReDS platforms.
TReDS is an RBI-regulated platform launched in 2017 where financiers bid to discount MSME invoices without recourse.
CPSEs and the Centre must buy at least 25% of annual procurement from MSMEs.

AU Small Finance Bank and Zaggle launched the AU Zaggle Co-Branded Retail Credit Card.
The card is offered on Visa and RuPay networks.

4. QCI-NSIC MoU: Quality Boost for MSMEs

The Quality Council of India (QCI) and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) signed an MoU for MSME competitiveness.
Goals: better quality standards, stronger competitiveness and wider market access for MSMEs.
Focus areas: ZED Certification, ONDC integration, accreditation and digital market access.
The tie-up also strengthens quality certification and export readiness.

5. TReDS Made Mandatory for CPSE Payments to MSMEs

The Ministry of MSME made it compulsory for all Central Public Sector Enterprises to settle MSME invoices through TReDS platforms.
TReDS stands for Trade Receivables Discounting System.
The move targets timely payment, more transparency and easier working capital through invoice discounting.

6. RBI Launches IESH, RCCS and UCCS Household Surveys

RBI launched three nationwide surveys: IESH, Rural Consumer Confidence Survey and Urban Consumer Confidence Survey.
IESH stands for Inflation Expectations Survey of Households.

9. IMAT-05: ISRO Parachute Airdrop Test for Gaganyaan G1

ISRO conducted IMAT-05, the fifth integrated main parachute airdrop test, on 7 July 2026 for Gaganyaan's uncrewed G1 flight.
The drop zone was ADRDE's range at Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh; an IAF IL-76 carried a dummy mass simulating the crew module.
The test checked the main parachute's structural strength and design margins under the highest expected loads.

ISRO completed three qualification tests of Gaganyaan crew module safety systems.
Tests: uprighting system, umbilical separation and apex cover separation.

12. Rhino DNA Index System: One-Horned Rhino Facts and NBWL Nod

On 9 July 2026 the SC-NBWL's 91st meeting approved a DNA-based indexing scheme for the one-horned rhino.
The species is Vulnerable (IUCN), Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 and CITES Appendix I.
Kaziranga holds about 70% of the world population of around 4,000 animals.

Bhupender Yadav opened the new Human-Wildlife Conflict Centre of Excellence in Coimbatore, at WII-SACON.

MoSPI's Review of Crop Statistics System flagged delayed crop surveys, outdated village maps and a shortage of trained staff.
Timely girdawari completion in sample villages ranged from 33% (summer) to 48% (rabi).
63% of village maps were older than 20 years; West Bengal and Puducherry were at 100%.
Around 40% of crop-cutting experiments in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh were done by untrained personnel.
