The Union Minister for Tribal Affairs launched TribeX, billed as India's first dedicated digital learning platform on tribal arts and culture.
TribeX is developed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs as a central knowledge repository open to learners worldwide.
It aims to preserve heritage, build skills and livelihoods, and link learners with master tribal artisans.

3. ULLAS Scheme: Uttarakhand Becomes Sixth Fully Literate State

Uttarakhand became the sixth fully literate State under ULLAS in July 2026.
ULLAS is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Education Ministry running over FY 2022-27.
FLNAT is held twice yearly, and passing learners get a NIOS-DoSEL certificate.

Assam presented a Rs 2,85,084 crore budget for 2026-27 on 10 July 2026.
Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah tabled it in his first budget as finance minister.
The fiscal deficit is pegged at 3% of GSDP; the budget deficit target is Rs 419.26 crore.
Agricultural income tax exemption for small tea growers rises from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

5. India-Australia Annual Summit 2026: Melbourne Outcomes

The Third India-Australia Annual Summit took place in Melbourne, ending with a Joint Statement on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Both sides will speed up CECA talks and reaffirmed ECTA implementation.

The SEA Regenerative Mustard Model Farm Programme began in 2019 with Solidaridad Network Asia as implementation partner.
It covers about 3,000 demonstration plots across 14 districts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.
Demonstration farms posted mustard yields up to 30% higher in the 2025-26 rabi season.
Regenerative farming, unlike organic farming, does not ban chemical inputs.

8. CE20 Cryogenic Engine: Flight Acceptance Test for LVM3-M7

ISRO finished the flight acceptance hot test of the indigenous CE20 engine for LVM3-M7.
CE20 burns liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen in the upper stage of LVM3.
It has powered eight straight LVM3 flights and is planned as Gaganyaan's human-rated cryogenic engine.

9. Parrot Bornavirus 4 (PaBV-4): First Indian Detection

Scientists identified and genetically characterised Parrot Bornavirus 4 (PaBV-4) in captive birds in India for the first time.
PaBV-4 is a single-stranded RNA virus of the species Orthobornavirus alphapsittaciforme.
It is the main cause of Proventricular Dilatation Disease, which is neurological and digestive and often fatal.

10. India, Australia Sign CSIR-TKDL Access Agreement with IP Australia

CSIR and IP Australia finalised the TKDL access agreement on 9 July 2026 during the 3rd India-Australia Annual Summit in Melbourne.
IP Australia can use TKDL to find prior art when examining patent applications.
TKDL holds over 5.2 lakh formulations and practices from Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Yoga.
Eighteen patent offices now have access to the database.

National CAMPA's Governing Body cleared four wildlife projects under a new scheme.
The scheme has an initial ₹3,000 crore corpus spread over five years.
Species covered: river dolphin, snow leopard, Indian rhinoceros and wild water buffalo.

12. Astra Mk 1 BVRAAM Deal Signed With Indonesia

India and Indonesia agreed a defence deal to supply the Astra Mk 1 missile at their Jakarta summit.
Astra Mk 1 is a home-built air-to-air missile meant for targets beyond visual range.
DRDO developed it and Bharat Dynamics Limited produces it.
DRDO dates from 1958 and has its headquarters in New Delhi.

India's intangible investment grew 7.9% in 2023, the highest among the world's 15 largest economies.
It reached USD 78.2 billion in 2023, about 10% of formal sector GDP.
Software and databases made up nearly 45% of the total, the highest share in the study.
The report is by WIPO and Luiss Business School and covers 29 economies.

14. Playback Singer S Janaki Dies at 88

S Janaki died at a hospital in Mysuru on 11 July 2026, aged 88.
She recorded more than 48,000 songs in 20 Indian languages.
She won four National Film Awards and 33 State Film Awards.
Her last rites were held with full state honours on 12 July at Mysuru.
