11. RBI April 2025 Policy Preview: Rate Cut to 6% Expected

  • The MPC was widely expected to cut the repo rate by 25 bps to 6% in April 2025.
  • India's FY26 GDP forecast of 6.5% carried a 40-50 bps downside risk from external shocks.
  • Inflation was expected to stay near 4%, assuming a favourable El Niño-neutral monsoon.
  • RBI had already injected ₹6.5 trillion of durable liquidity through CRR cuts, OMOs, forex swaps and VRR auctions.

14. Hungary Quits the ICC: First EU State to Exit the Court

  • Hungary announced withdrawal from the International Criminal Court, becoming the first EU member state to do so.
  • PM Viktor Orbán announced it during Israeli PM Netanyahu's Budapest visit, after the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu.
  • Under the Rome Statute, withdrawal takes effect one year after notifying the UN Secretary-General.
  • Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the ICC itself criticised or regretted the decision.
