22. Modi’s Sri Lanka Visit: Mitra Vibhushana, Seven Pacts

  • Modi visited Sri Lanka on 4-6 April 2025 at President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's invitation and received the Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushana.
  • Seven agreements were signed, including the first India-Sri Lanka defence MoU and a trilateral MoU with the UAE on a Trincomalee energy hub.
  • Railway projects: Maho-Omanthai line (128 km, USD 91.27 million) and Maho-Anuradhapura signalling (USD 14.89 million).
  • The 120 MW Sampur solar plant, an NTPC-Ceylon Electricity Board venture, was launched virtually.

25. GE Alfalfa Hay Import Awaits Agriculture Ministry Nod

  • GEAC cleared genetically engineered alfalfa hay imports in July 2024, but the Agriculture Ministry's final notification is pending.

  • India allows RTD drinks with 0.5-8% alcohol; talks aim to raise the range to 10-15%.

  • CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.
  • Its creators were Luis von Ahn, Manuel Blum, Nicholas J. Hopper and John Langford; the first patent was filed in 2003.
  • reCAPTCHA (2009) used scanned book text; invisible reCAPTCHA arrived in 2014; v3 scores activity silently.
  • Weaknesses include accessibility barriers and bots that can solve many CAPTCHA types.
