Why in the news
The Ministry of Power’s State Energy Efficiency Index 2024, the 6th edition, was released on 29 August 2025 to track how well States and UTs use energy.
Key facts
- Developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE).
- Covers 36 States and UTs and 66 indicators for FY 2023-24.
- Sectors: buildings, industry, transport, agriculture, DISCOMs, municipal services and cross-sector efforts.
- Findings: 24 states adopted the Energy Conservation Building Code, 31 have electric mobility policies, and all 36 prepared energy efficiency action plans.
