The IAU approved naming a Mars crater 'Krishnan Crater' after geologist M.S. Krishnan (1898-1970).

On 20 November 2025 the Supreme Court accepted a new Aravalli Hills definition: hills of at least 100 m above local relief plus adjacent slopes.
The old test used 20 m; only 1,048 hills (about 8.7%) of 12,081 mapped hills keep the label.
The Aravallis run about 692 km across Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Gujarat and are over 1.5 billion years old.
They block Thar desertification, recharge groundwater and shelter wildlife.
