A mobile app for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) is set to be launched by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, along with the first physical facilitation centre.

Key facts

  • App developer: Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG), which also manages the current internship portal.
  • First facilitation centre: Kolkata, created by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
  • CII will also set up facilitation desks at 47 Model Career Centres nationwide.

About PMIS

  • Announced in Budget 2024-25.
  • Goal: internships for one crore youth in the top 500 companies within five years.
  • MCA started it as a pilot on 3 October 2024, aiming at 1,25,000 internships in FY 2024-25.
