The Government set up the RDIF to give long-term, risk-tolerant money to India’s research and deep-tech innovation ecosystem.

- Corpus: ₹1 lakh crore (about $11 billion).
- Nature: sovereign risk-capital fund, not a grant or subsidy.
- Goal: cross the ‘valley of death’ between laboratory work and commercialisation.
- Horizon: patient capital, up to 50 years.
Structure
- Anchored under the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).
- Two tiers: a Special Purpose Fund (SPF) holds government capital; professional managers (AIFs, NBFCs, public financial institutions) invest in startups.
