The insurance regulator invited views on a shared national registry for insurance information.
Key facts
- Legal backing: Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025.
- Nature: interoperable, open to all and built for population scale.
- Role: a common exchange layer where authorised parties can discover, verify and share insurance data.
- Users: policyholders, financial institutions, government departments, research bodies and insurance players such as insurers, reinsurers and intermediaries.
- Linkages planned: vehicle, health, weather, disaster and court databases; similar in spirit to RBI’s Account Aggregator framework.
