Maharashtra sets Guinness record with 45,911 solar pumps in 30 days

On 8 December 2025 it was reported that Maharashtra had set a Guinness World Record by installing 45,911 off-grid solar agricultural pumps in just 30 days. Guinness ranked the state second in the world, behind China, for speed and volume of such deployment by a single administrative region.

About the delivery
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis credited the PM-KUSUM initiative. MSEDCL Chairman Lokesh Chandra put the success down to sound scheme design, transparent vendor selection and strict monitoring. Maharashtra now gives priority to off-grid solar pumps for new farm connections, which lessens dependence on the grid.
