India GDP Growth Q3 FY25 at 6.2%; FY25 Seen at 6.5%
Why in the news
The National Statistics Office (NSO), part of MoSPI, released the national accounts estimates on 28 February 2025. They showed a pick-up in growth during the third quarter of FY25 and a higher full-year estimate.

- Q3 FY25 real GDP growth came in at 6.2%, against a revised 5.6% in the second quarter and 8.6% in Q3 of the previous year.
- FY25 real GDP growth was estimated at 6.5%, revised up from the first advance estimate.
- Nominal GDP was projected to rise 9.9% in FY25.
- Real GVA was estimated to grow 6.4%, and nominal GVA 9.5%.
- Growth for FY24 was revised up to 9.2%, the best in 12 years apart from the post-pandemic rebound year FY22.

Reports attributed the Q3 recovery to stronger rural demand after a good monsoon and higher government spending.
About the NSO and MoSPI
The National Statistics Office is the agency within the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation that compiles GDP data. It issues quarterly estimates and annual advance estimates, which are revised as more data arrives.
