Why in the news
MeitY launched DHRUV64, built under the Microprocessor Development Programme to strengthen the home chip ecosystem for telecom, industrial automation and embedded systems.
Key facts
- Developer: C-DAC; runs operating systems.
- Aim: lower reliance on foreign chip designs and boost security and supply-chain resilience.
- Based on RISC-V, an open, licence-free instruction set with lower cost and design freedom, under DIR-V.
