3. ICDS Scheme: Services, Beneficiaries, Impact and Challenges

  • ICDS was launched on 2 October 1975 under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
  • It targets children under six, pregnant and lactating women, and adolescent girls with nutrition, health and education.
  • Anganwadi Centres are the foundation, offering supplementary nutrition, immunisation, check-ups, referrals and pre-school education.
  • Challenges include weak infrastructure, limited staff training, nutrition gaps and low awareness in rural and tribal areas.

  • SEBI will review its mutual fund and stock broker regulations at the board meeting on 17 December 2025.

11. India’s Average Temperature Rose 0.9 C in 2015-2024, Study Finds

  • India's average temperature rose by nearly 0.9 degC between 2015 and 2024, the study says.
  • Warm days are increasing by 5 to 10 days per decade in many regions.
