4. National Manufacturing Mission: aims, initiatives and challenges

  • The National Manufacturing Mission (NMM) aims to strengthen industry, exports and sustainable, innovative manufacturing, in line with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
  • Budget 2025-26 said NMM would back clean tech and local ecosystems for solar cells, EV batteries and high voltage transmission equipment.
  • NMM seeks to lift manufacturing's share of GDP from about 16% to 25% by 2025.
  • The earlier National Manufacturing Policy (2011) targeted a 25% GDP share within a decade and 100 million jobs.

11. Liquid ETFs: Idle Cash Parking Option for Investors

  • Liquid ETF AUM rose 31% in a year, from ₹17,200 crore to ₹23,550 crore.
  • Brokers use liquid ETFs to keep idle funds on platform, avoiding month-end return of unutilised money to clients.
  • Liquid ETFs trade on NSE and BSE, are exempt from STT and have low expense ratios.

  • India's economy has three sectors: primary, secondary and tertiary; the tertiary or services sector contributes the most to GDP.
  • For 2023-24 the GDP shares were 19.9% (primary), 25.7% (secondary) and 63.5% (tertiary).
  • Employment shares were 45% primary, 25% secondary and 30% tertiary; the primary sector employs the most people.
