5. PMSMA Turns 10: A Decade of Care; NZP Saathi App Launched

  • PMSMA, launched on 9 June 2016 by PM Modi, gives free, assured, comprehensive antenatal care (ANC) to all pregnant women.
  • The 10th anniversary theme is '10 Years of PMSMA, A Decade of Care'; special sessions run on the 9th of every month.
  • Each visit bundles check-ups, counselling, medicines, lab tests and one ultrasound scan.
  • NZP Saathi App and self-ticketing kiosks were launched at the National Zoological Park, New Delhi.

10. Sahamati Foundation: RBI-Recognised SRO for Account Aggregators

  • RBI recognised the Sahamati Foundation as the Self-Regulatory Organisation for India's Account Aggregator ecosystem.
  • The network links 1,120 regulated entities and 17 operational AAs, with over 294 million linked accounts.
  • The framework has three roles: Financial Information Provider, Financial Information User and Account Aggregator.
  • The AA framework was launched under the RBI's NBFC-Account Aggregator framework in 2016; the live network began in September 2021.

14. Urea Subsidy Reform: Why Shift to a Nutrient-Based Direct Benefit

  • The editorial calls urea the last unreformed subsidy and urges a nutrient-based, direct-benefit regime in which farmers, not fertiliser firms, get the money.
  • Fertiliser subsidy could reach ₹3.4 trillion in FY27, above the earlier peak of ₹2.5 trillion in FY23.

22. UN Military Gender Advocate Award: Major Abhilasha Barak

  • Indian Army's Major Abhilasha Barak won the UN Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award while serving with UNIFIL.
  • She is the third Indian woman officer to receive it; Major Suman Gawani (2019) and Major Radhika Sen (2023) won earlier.
  • The award dates from 2016 and honours peacekeepers who advance the agenda of UNSC Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security.
  • UNIFIL was set up in March 1978, monitors the Blue Line and is headquartered at Naqoura, southern Lebanon.
