1. Kashmir’s Sufiyana Music: Proposal for UNESCO’s ICH Representative List

  • J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote to the Union Culture Minister in June 2026 proposing Kashmir's Sufiyana Music for UNESCO's ICH Representative List.
  • Sufiyana Music is classical choral ensemble music native to the Kashmir Valley, blending Persian, Central Asian and Indian classical systems.
  • UNESCO adopted its ICH safeguarding Convention in 2003, and India ratified it in 2005.
  • India had 15 inscriptions as of 2024, the latest being Garba of Gujarat in 2023.

3. AIR SUVIDHA 2.0: Contactless Health Declaration Portal

  • MoCA and Delhi International Airport Limited launched AIR SUVIDHA 2.0, a contactless, paperless health self-declaration portal for international arrivals.
  • It responds to WHO's 17 May 2026 PHEIC declaration over Ebola (Bundibugyo) cases in DRC and Uganda.
  • The declaration covers 21-day travel history and symptoms, and can be filed up to 24 hours before arrival.
  • Data flows in real time to airport health officers, immigration, IDSP and state surveillance officers.

4. Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan 2026: SARAS Aajeevika Showcase

  • The Ministry of Rural Development is holding the Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan (RGVS) 2026 on 28-29 June at ICAR-NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi.
  • Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is to inaugurate it; the meet will discuss a roadmap for a developed rural India.
  • The SARAS Aajeevika Gallery will showcase products of women-led SHGs under DAY-NRLM.

7. RBI Upper Layer NBFC Norms: Rs.1 Lakh Crore Asset Test

  • On 24 June 2026 RBI revised the method to identify Upper Layer NBFCs: assets of Rs.1 lakh crore or more on the latest audited balance sheet.
  • The threshold is reviewed every 3 years; NBFC-ULs must list within 3 years, except fully government-owned ones.
  • Government NBFCs lose concentration-risk exemptions; the NBFC-IFC large exposure limit rises from 35% to 45%.

9. BRICS Space Economy Pitch at Heads of Space Agencies Meet

  • India, as BRICS Chair for 2026, hosted the BRICS Heads of Space Agencies meeting in Bengaluru on 23-24 June 2026, organised by ISRO.
  • Dr Jitendra Singh pitched a BRICS Space Economy as the next frontier of global growth, urging co-development, co-innovation and co-creation.
  • Proposed pillars include a BRICS Space Council and the Remote Sensing Satellite Constellation, working since 2021.

12. IAF’s Indigenous Netra AEW&C Gets Final Operational Clearance

  • DRDO handed over the Final Operational Clearance for the Netra AEW&C system to the Indian Air Force on 25 June 2026.
  • Netra is built on the Embraer EMB-145I aircraft; the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS), Bengaluru, led development.
  • The programme began in 2003, was sanctioned in 2004, and received Initial Operational Clearance in 2017.
  • Final clearance means all trials and validation are complete and the system is fully combat-ready.
