1. UPI MDR for Large Merchants: Fintech Proposal Explained

Fintech players explored an MDR on UPI payments restricted to large merchants only.
The Finance Ministry reiterated it had no current plan to levy MDR on UPI.
Over 90% of India's 60 million UPI-accepting merchants, mainly those with annual turnover up to ₹20 lakh, would be exempt.
Users would continue paying zero fees on UPI.
