Ayushman Sarathi: PM-JAY Chatbot for Cards and Grievances
Why in the news
A new beneficiary-facing digital assistant, Ayushman Sarathi, was rolled out for users of the PM-JAY health insurance scheme, together with three other health-tech initiatives.
Key facts
- Card management: apply, download, lock or unlock, eKYC and Aadhaar linking.
- Lock/unlock of cards to stop misuse.
- Dedicated module for the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card (seniors aged 70+).
- Lookups: wallet balance, treatment history and search for empanelled hospitals.
- Grievance redressal: register, track or withdraw complaints, and give post-discharge feedback.
- The tool is free for beneficiaries.

About PM-JAY
- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana sits under Ayushman Bharat; started on 23 September 2018.
- Insures each family for as much as ₹5 lakh a year, for secondary and tertiary hospital care.
- Implementing agency: NHA, a body of the Health Ministry (MoHFW).
Vaya Vandana Card
- Introduced on 29 October 2024 by PM Modi.
- Open to every citizen aged 70 years or more, whatever their income.
- Adds a further ₹5 lakh of cover over the base PM-JAY limit.

- Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission began on 27 September 2021.
- Builds digital health backbone: 14-digit ABHA ID, Healthcare Professionals Registry, Health Facility Registry and PHR.
