The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) results for 2024-25 on 30 September 2026, showing broad-based growth across the factory sector.

Key facts

  • Industrial output increased 7.81% over 2023-24.
  • Employment grew 7.19%, from 1.96 crore to 2.10 crore, adding over 14 lakh jobs.
  • Gross Value Added (GVA) rose 9.59%, from Rs 2,458.3 thousand crore to Rs 2,694.2 thousand crore.
  • Emoluments of workers climbed 12.08%; net profit rose 7.73%.
  • The number of factories went from 2.60 lakh to 2.67 lakh (up 2.64%).

By employment, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana together hold over 56% of manufacturing jobs. Basic metals, motor vehicles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food products give more than 45% of manufacturing GVA.
