Fiji PM Rabuka’s India visit ends with nine MoUs
Why in the news
Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka concluded a three-day official visit to India on 26 August 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was his first official visit to India as Prime Minister.

About the cooperation
Defence cooperation covers training, equipment and capacity building for Fiji’s military, UN peacekeeping, military medicine, white shipping information exchange and cybersecurity. In health, the sides discussed a 100-bed super-specialty hospital, Jan Aushadhi, Heal in India and e-Sanjeevani telemedicine. Other focus areas include Hindi-Sanskrit studies, recognition of Girmitiyas (Indian indentured labourers), sports and student mobility. The joint vision backs Indo-Pacific peace, India’s UN Security Council membership, counter-terrorism and climate action, reinforcing India’s Act East Policy.
