About the new additional Governor
Ajay Kumar Bhalla is a 1984-batch IAS officer of the Assam cadre. He was Union Home Secretary from 2019 to 2024, the longest-serving holder of that post, and became Governor of Manipur in January 2025. He now holds charge of both Manipur and Nagaland.
