1. RAJ-UNNATI: Rajasthan’s Digital Governance Platform

Rajasthan launched RAJ-UNNATI, the first state to adopt a state-level version of the Centre's PRAGATI.
The platform fast-tracks projects, cuts delays, monitors schemes and handles grievances in a structured way.
PRAGATI began in 2014 to track major infrastructure and development projects.

The first 2026 SCO Council of National Coordinators meeting was held in Beijing under Kyrgyz Republic chairmanship.
The CNC is the SCO's main coordination mechanism, linking standing bodies and member states.
SCO was established on 15 June 2001 and has 10 members; its Secretariat is in Beijing.

The Department of Fisheries sanctioned a Smart and Integrated Fishing Harbour at Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The harbour can handle about 9,900 tonnes of fish a year and berth 430 fishing vessels.
IoT systems will give digital traceability and real-time monitoring of landings.

Kerala renamed Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary as Aralam Butterfly Sanctuary, the state's first butterfly sanctuary.

It borders Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka and adjoins Kottiyoor Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala.
It is part of the Western Ghats biodiversity hotspot.

Nagaland University researchers recorded a new flowering plant, Hoya nagaensis, in a community-managed forest.

Sir William Mark Tully, veteran journalist, passed away in January 2026 in New Delhi at age 90.
He was known as the BBC's voice of India and was its New Delhi Bureau Chief for 22 years.
He received the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Padma Bhushan in 2005.
