5. Nirbhay Raho Initiative: Panchayati Raj Training of Trainers

  • The Ministry of Panchayati Raj held a three-day National Training of Trainers in New Delhi on legal provisions for women's security.
  • It is the first big step of the new Nirbhay Raho Initiative, funded through the non-lapsable Nirbhaya Fund.
  • Three pillars: Nirbhay Netri (about 14.5 lakh elected women), Nirbhay Chetna (about 17.5 lakh elected men) and Nirbhay Drishti (CCTV).
  • Around 46% of elected PRI members are women, thanks to the 73rd Amendment's one-third reservation and state moves to 50%.

11. NSE and SUFI MoU to Build Steel Derivatives Ecosystem

  • A memorandum between the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and SUFI, the Steel Users Federation of India, targets a stronger domestic market for steel commodity derivatives.

16. Abraham Accords: US Push for Six More Muslim Nations

  • The US President asked six states, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey and Jordan, to join the Abraham Accords at once.
  • The Accords are US-brokered deals normalising relations between Israel and Muslim-majority countries.
  • The UAE, Bahrain and Morocco signed first in 2020; Sudan, Kosovo, Somaliland and Kazakhstan joined later.
  • They are named after Abraham, a biblical patriarch common to Judaism and Islam.

30. AMCA RFP Issued: India’s Fifth-Generation Stealth Fighter

  • The Ministry of Defence issued the Request for Proposal for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), India's first indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter project.
