3. RBI Capital Market Exposure Norms: Tighter Bank Lending Rules

RBI's new capital market exposure rules, effective 1 July 2026, cap total exposure at 40% and direct exposure at 20% of Tier-I capital.
Bank finance for proprietary trading by brokers is banned; market-making is the only exception.
Loans to capital market intermediaries need 100% collateral; bank guarantees need at least 50% collateral, 25% of it in cash.
LTV limits are 60% on listed shares, 75% on MF/ETF/REIT/InvIT and 85% on debt mutual funds.

4. SBI to Buy NHB’s 10% Stake in RMBS Development Company

SBI announced on 3 July 2026 that it will buy a 10% stake in RMBS Development Company Limited.
The seller is the National Housing Bank (NHB).
NHB's holding in RDCL falls from 39% to 29%.
RDCL is a mortgage-backed securities firm set up in 2024.

India chaired the Ninth Session of the UNCTAD Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Policy, 6 to 8 July 2026, Geneva.

UNGCP was adopted by UNGA Resolution 39/248 on 16 April 1985; it is non-binding soft law.

DRDO started "Deep Ocean Watch", a plan to place a home-built UFOSS (fibre-optic sensing network) on the Indian Ocean floor.

UFOSS is a fixed network of acoustic and hydrographic sensors linked by armoured fibre cables to shore stations, with a 20-year life.
