1. Hazard Perception Test: Kerala first to make it mandatory

Kerala will be the first State to make a computer-based Hazard Perception Test mandatory for licence seekers, from December 2026.
The test uses simulated traffic to check whether applicants spot hazards in time.
India recorded 4,87,707 road accidents and 1,77,175 deaths in 2024.

2. Stem Cell Therapy for Autism Limited to Approved Trials

The Union Health Ministry told States and UTs that stem cell therapy for ASD must be given only via approved clinical trials.
The advisory is dated 16 September 2026.

3. CBFC Reconstituted With Shashi Shekhar Vempati as Chairperson

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was reconstituted as an 18-member board.
Shashi Shekhar Vempati chairs the board; the tenure is three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Members include Preity Zinta, Suniel Shetty, Pankaj Tripathi, Priyadarshan and Grammy-winning musician Ricky Kej.
The order was issued under Section 3(1) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952.
The previous full reconstitution took place in August 2017.

4. PM Vishwakarma Scheme Completes Three Years with 30 Lakh Registrations

PM Vishwakarma, begun on 17 September 2023, reached three years and 30 lakh registrations.
It supports 18 traditional trades with ₹13,000 crore planned for FY2023-24 to FY2027-28.
Artisans get a ₹500 daily stipend, a ₹15,000 toolkit incentive and loans of ₹1 lakh then ₹2 lakh at 5%.

5. RBI ₹50,000 Crore OMO Sale to Absorb Durable Liquidity

Through an Open Market Operation, RBI offloaded G-Secs worth ₹50,000 crore to mop up durable liquidity.
It opens a ₹1 trillion programme of OMO sales as the first instalment.
Two further sales of ₹25,000 crore each are set for 21 and 28 September 2026.
WACR was 5.05% against a 5.25% repo rate.

Combined merchandise and services exports were USD 399.27 billion in April–August 2026, up 15.5%.
Merchandise exports alone stood at USD 215.91 billion in the five months.
Imports reached USD 459.65 billion, growing 18.01%; August exports were USD 82.68 billion against imports of USD 92.09 billion.

MeitY gave in-principle approval for an AI Centre of Excellence in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
It comes under the IndiaAI Mission.
