India and New Zealand revived stalled trade talks and set a short window to finalise a full free trade agreement.
Key facts
- Goal: a comprehensive FTA in roughly 60 days, lifting trade ten-fold in ten years.
- Formal talks had been absent since February 2015; resumption came during PM Luxon’s visit, 16-20 March 2025.
- India’s other FTA talks cover the US, UK, EU, Australia and Oman; it hopes to close three of them, including New Zealand, by year-end.
