About the scheme
CMPS aims to create a globally competitive container-making ecosystem, cut India’s dependence on imported containers and make maritime and logistics supply chains more resilient. It backs both new plants and expansion of existing units, with the longer-term goal of turning India into an export hub for quality shipping containers. An earlier proposal discussed in 2026 was referred to as the Container Manufacturing Assistance Scheme.
