PMAY-G 2.0: 3 lakh houses for Andhra Pradesh, first 3D-printed homes
Why in the news
On 4 October 2026, Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over 3 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0 to Andhra Pradesh and laid the foundation stone of the country’s first 3D concrete-printed housing pilot.
Key facts
- 3 lakh houses valued at ₹3,600 crore were given to the state as the first instalment.
- The state had earlier been allotted only 76,000 houses; the number was raised after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asked for more, and he has sought a further 6 lakh.
- 3D concrete printing pilot: 177 houses at a cost of ₹14 crore in Burripalem and Obulnayudupalem villages of Guntur district, due to be finished in about six months.
- The technology is expected to cut building time, cost and labour while giving longer-lasting structures.
- Lakhpati Didi: 23 lakh women in the state have reached this status through self-help groups; the goal is 60 lakh.
- Saras Mela for women-led self-help groups will open in Andhra Pradesh on 15 October 2026, to be inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu; it is the first time the fair is held outside Delhi.

About the farmer support mentioned
The minister noted that farmers in the state receive ₹6,000 a year under PM-KISAN and ₹14,000 a year under the state’s Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, together ₹20,000 annually. Minister of State Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani was also present.
