Why in the news

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), published its 2024 state ranking on energy efficiency on 29 August 2025.

Key facts

  • Edition: sixth, since 2018.
  • 24 states notified ECBC 2017; 31 have e-mobility policies; 13 promote solar agri pumps (Kerala 74%).
  • All 36 States/UTs have action plans (SEEAPs).
  • Toppers by energy-use group: Maharashtra (above 15 MToE), Andhra Pradesh (5-15), Assam (1-5), Tripura (below 1).
