SEBI ‘Samajh Se Investing Simple’ campaign launched in Chandigarh
Why in the news
On 5 October 2026, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) began a nationwide investor awareness drive titled ‘Samajh Se Investing Simple’ at Panjab University, Chandigarh, coinciding with the start of World Investor Week.
Key facts
- Launched by: SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey.
- World Investor Week: 5-11 October 2026.
- Project Jagrook: the umbrella under which the campaign will run till March 2027, jointly with stock exchanges, depositories, AMFI and NISM.
- MUST programme (Mentoring of University and College Students through Trainers): teachers, staff and senior students will be trained as ‘Partner Trainers’ to run awareness sessions on campuses.
- Rural outreach in partnership with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
- A National Securities Market Awareness Curriculum and a free SEBI Investor Awareness Test were also announced, along with a verified SEBI WhatsApp channel.
- Investor Survey 2025: just 36% of investors reported high or moderate knowledge of the securities market.
- Pandey warned investors against acting on anonymous tips and finfluencers.
