Why in the news
The central bank set up two bodies to make rule reviews routine: the Regulatory Review Cell (RRC) and the Advisory Group on Regulation (AGR).

- RRC: begins 1 October 2025 inside the Department of Regulation; runs phased reviews so each rule is checked internally every 5-7 years.
- AGR: brings industry feedback and outside expertise into those reviews.
- Six members; chair Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh, MD of State Bank of India.
- Other members: T T Srinivasaraghavan, Gautam Thakur, Shyam Srinivasan, Ravi Duvvuru, N S Kannan.
- Term: 3 years, renewable for 2 more; extra experts can be co-opted.
