Key facts

  • Goals: simpler registration, better experience, easier travel and stay.
  • Upgrades: new interface and stronger security.
  • Old portal (2013): 180+ missions, 12 FRROs, about 2,000 applications daily.

OCI scheme

  • PIO can register as OCI.
  • Eligible: citizens of India on or after 26 January 1950, or eligible then.
  • Excluded: current or former Pakistani or Bangladeshi citizens and their descendants up to great-grandchildren.
