LVM3 Semi-Cryogenic Upgrade: SE2000 Engine Due by 2027
Why in the news
ISRO is getting ready to launch an LVM3 rocket fitted with a semi-cryogenic propulsion stage by early 2027. The step should strengthen launch capability and cut reliance on engines from abroad.
Key facts
- LVM3 (earlier called GSLV Mk III) is India’s most powerful rocket.
- It will swap the existing L110 liquid stage for a semi-cryogenic one.
- SE2000 engine is in the testing phase.
