From the Budget Session 2026 the Lok Sabha will use digital attendance so that members are physically present in the chamber during sittings.
Key facts
- Announced by: Speaker Om Birla.
- Replaces: the lobby register, signed outside the House.
- Each seat has a digital console; presence is verified by biometric thumb scan.
- Marking works only from the MP’s own seat while the House sits; after adjournment the system locks.
- Not marking means losing daily allowance and related entitlements.

- Real physical presence, better transparency, discipline and productivity.
- Stop token attendance and absenteeism.
