JANANI Platform: Digital Maternal and Child Health Tracking
Why in the news
The Health Ministry unveiled JANANI at a national summit on innovation and inclusivity in health. It is a digital service platform that keeps health records of women of reproductive age and follows them through pregnancy, childbirth and early childcare.

- Nature: upgrade of the RCH Portal.
- Continuum of care: antenatal care, delivery preparedness, delivery, postnatal care, newborn care, HBNC and HBYC, family planning.

Significance

- Strengthens accountability of ASHAs and ANMs and fits the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission vision.
Background
- RCH Portal: earlier MoHFW system tracking name-based services for pregnant women, children and adolescents.
- U-WIN: digital tracker for universal immunisation, modelled on Co-WIN, for children and expectant mothers under the Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP).
- POSHAN: platforms under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 plus the Poshan Tracker, run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to track child and maternal nutrition via anganwadis.
