How it works
- Village Water and Sanitation Committees (Pani Samitis), with at least 50% women, prepare Village Action Plans.
- Every district has water-testing labs, and five women per village are trained on field test kits.
- Certification needs a gram sabha resolution confirming every home has a working tap of adequate quantity and quality – a community declaration.
- Convergence with MGNREGS, 15th Finance Commission grants to panchayats and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).
- States and UTs such as Goa, Telangana, Haryana, Gujarat, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram report 100% coverage.
