Background

  • India-EFTA TEPA: signed 10 March 2024 with Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein; $100 billion over 15 years, 1 million jobs, tariff concessions on industrial goods; described as India’s first FTA with investment commitments. Norway and Iceland are the EFTA members among the Nordics.
  • Venus Orbiter Mission (Shukrayaan-1): first Indian mission to Venus; Union Cabinet cleared it in September 2024.
  • MAHASAGAR: maritime vision voiced by Modi in Mauritius in March 2025, broadening SAGAR (2015).
  • IPOI: unveiled by Modi at the November 2019 East Asia Summit in Bangkok; seven pillars including maritime security, ecology, resources, capacity building, disaster risk reduction, science and technology, trade connectivity.
