India is gearing up to host African leaders again after a long gap, as it tries to strengthen its Global South leadership while West Asia tensions disturb supply chains.

Background
- Line of Credit: a soft loan from one government to another for buying the lender’s goods and services; Africa now sees it as adding to sovereign debt.

- Zanzibar: home to the first international campus of IIT Madras, a soft power move.
